Elizabeth Taylor wearing her Cartier ruby-and-diamond necklace, given to her by third husband, Mike Todd, in 1957. Taylor loved the necklace, saying that it “was like the sun, lit up and made of red fire.”
At the Christie’s auction of Elizabeth Taylor’s legendary jewelry collection, the necklace was estimated to fetch around $200,000 to $300,000. It was eventually sold for $3,778,500.
